The City of Tallinn launched this week a winter tourism campaign in Moscow and St Petersburg that welcomes Russians to visit fairytale Tallinn.
Ten years of consistent tourism marketing work has increased the number of Russian tourists visiting Tallinn by more than five times and thus, Tallinn is catching up to its main competitor Helsinki in regard to overnight stays of Russian tourists.
The number of Russian tourists visiting Tallinn, as well as Helsinki, is biggest at the end of the year. In the past five years, the number of overnight stays of Russian tourists has increased much faster in Tallinn than in Helsinki and last New Year’s more Russian tourists stayed in Tallinn than in Helsinki.
