Wages and salaries of Estonian employees increased in 2010, after falling in the previous month, data released by Statistics Estonia showed Friday.
The annual average monthly gross wages and salaries increased 1.1 percent annually to EUR 792 in 2010. In 2009, monthly gross wages and salaries had decreased for the first time in 16 years. Monthly wages and salaries in mining and quarrying climbed 11.6 percent during the year, marking the biggest growth.
At the same time, hourly gross wages and salaries dropped 0.4 percent to EUR 4.78 during the year. Hourly gross wages and salaries in professional, scientific and technical activities rose 6.4 percent, while in real estate activities they fell 15.8 percent.
