An undercover Äripäev journalist visited an event organized by pharmaceutical giant MSD which was aimed at making medical doctors to prescribe the MSD medicines, writes Äripäev.
The case may be investigated by medical authorities if it is found that the company has violated the legislation that sets very strict rules on advertising medical products.
MSD had invited more than 100 gynaecologists to the event that was held in the old terminal of Tallinn Airport in late Friday, included lots of food, alcohol and entertainment and which focused on advertising a contraception product, a vaginal ring called Nuvaring.
One of the main presentations was held by Konstantin Ridnyi, a gynaecologist of East Tallinn Central Hospital who focused on the positive aspects of Nuvaring and said nothing about dangers. When Äripäev later asked Ridnyi for a comment about his presentation, he refused to say anything.
MSD itself said in reply to Äripäev’s questions later that it was not an advertising event, but an educational seminar.
