Friday, the Statistics Estonia announced that the average monthly gross wages and salaries decreased 4.4% year-on-year in the second quarter, compared to the 1.5% fall seen in the previous quarter.
The average monthly gross wages and salaries grew in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply by 8.5% , while wages and salaries in mining and quarrying decreased 16.3%.
The average gross wages and salaries amounted to 12,716 kroons in the second quarter, up from 12,147 kroons in the first quarter.
In June, the average gross wages and salaries were 13,693 kroons, 12,127 kroons in May and 12,336 kroons in April, the statistical office said.
Meanwhile, the hourly gross wages and salaries dropped 1.4% annually in the second quarter, in contrast to the 2.4% increase in the previous quarter.
At the same time, the average hourly labor costs increased the most in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply but decreased the most in financial and insurance activities.
