The Estonian national joint stand was successful at the recently ended world’s largest trade fair of industry and technology in Hannover, the attraction of the exposition was the formula car built by the Estonian students.
Last week, on 20-24 April the world’s largest trade fair of industry and technology Hannover Messe was held in Hannover, Germany. Estonia participated therein with the joint stand under the leadership of Enterprise Estonia and the Federation of Estonian Engineering Industry, the participation wherein was free of charge for the Estonian companies thanks to national support.
Estonia set up its 55-square meter stand at Hannover trade fair in the hall of research and technology, the display was created and built by Ekspodisain. The production company ProLab had produced the videoclips for the trade fair upon the order of Enterprise Estonia. One clip introduced Estonia in general, the other the companies of the Estonian engineering companies represented on the stand. 12 Estonian companies: Vertex Estonia, BLRT Grupp, Sumar Tours, Norcar BSD, PreDe, Ferreks TT and part of the cluster companies of Saaremaa small ship construction introduced themselves to the elite of the world’s engineering industry at Hannover trade fair.
According to Marion Raudsepp, the business consultant of Export Division of Enterprise Estonia, the indisputable magnet was the Formula Student’s formula car FEST08 built in cooperation of Tallinn University of Applied Sciences and Tallinn University of Technology which achieved the best title of the newcomer at the competition held on Silverstone speedway last year.
“The time indicates the profitability of contacts received at the fair, but the participation at this major fair of technology surely increased the reliability of the Estonian companies in the world’s engineering and instrument industry sector, “ Jüri Riives, the chairman of the management board of the Federation of Estonian Engineering Industry, said.
The seminar introducing the Estonian engineering industry was also held in the frames of the fair where Jüri Riives performed with the report. Also, the Estonian entrepreneurs were invited to the contact event with the entrepreneurs of Baden-Württenberg State which was opened by Mart Laanemäe, the Estonian ambassador in Germany. The contract of improvement of economic cooperation was concluded between Estonia and State of Baden-Württenberg in November 2008 which creates additional cooperation possibilities also further on.
The objective of Enterprise Estonia established in 2000 is to promote the business and regional policy in Estonia. Enterprise Estonia operates in the following sectors: supporting the new sustainable companies, increasing the export and product development capability of the Estonian companies, involvement of the foreign direct investments in the Estonian company, increasing the tourism export and development of domestic tourism, promotion of regional development and civil society.
The Federation of Estonian Engineering Industry is the organisation representing the common interests of the companies of local engineering, metal and instrument industries which connects the main part of the production potential of the branch of industry. The metal and instrument industry with more than 450 production companies and 36000 employees is one of the leading industrial branches of Estonia. The engineering, metal and instrument industry make the largest part of the Estonian export volume.
