Minister of foreign affairs Urmas Paet participated in the meeting of ministers of foreign affairs of the countries of the EU Nordic Dimension in St Petersburg on Tuesday, writes Postimees Online/LETA.
Paet noted that the created transportation and logistics partnership could help improve the transportation infrastructure and overcoming of the current problems
“Estonia considers it important to find a solution to the queues on the border between the EU and Russia and the building of the new Narva bridge,” he stated.
According to Paet, the transportation partnership is also important for better exploitation of the EU-Russia’s trade potential. Two of the current partnerships – environmental partnership and social partnership – are good examples of the EU’s regional policy output and have yielded clear results as well. Paet stated that Estonia has, for example, gained from the environmental partnership.
“In near future cultural partnership is also planned to be launched, where the emphasis will lie on the cultural co-operation between the Baltic Sea States and the North-Western part of Russia,” said Paet.
