Tallinn City Government has decided not to pay private company Ühisteenused EEK 10 mln in damages.
Postimees writes that Ühisteenused submitted its claim to the City after the latter decided to terminate the contract under which Ühisteenused checked tickets in public transport.
The City’s lawyers found that the termination of contract was force majeure and that the city government was not responsible.
The City terminated the contract after the Supreme Court ruled that the state or municipal authorities cannot delegate to private persons their right to issue fines.
Ühisteenused claims that it has suffered about EEK 15 mln in damages because of the termination, but agreed to lower its claim to EEK 10.5 mln.
