After a relatively moderate first half-year, the passenger figure has picked up in the second half-year owing to increased number of flights and better availability of cheaper fares.
The load factor of Estonian Air reached record level of 76% in August on regular flights, which is 7% up from August 2006. Estonian Air flew 744 regular flights in August a 9% rise from the same period in 2006. The regularity of Estonian Air flights was 99.9%.
The biggest demand for tickets in August was on seasonal and South European routes like Barcelona, Milan, Dubrovnik, Simferopol, but even to Hamburg, Kiev and Oslo.
The number of charter flights in August operated in cooperation with tour operators was 102, which is 20 flights less than August last year. The number of passengers on charter flights was 11815. The decrease of charter flights took place on the account of development of regular flight possibilities.
The most popular destinations for charter flights were Chania, Rhodes, Kos and Corfu in Greece ; Catania and Cagliari in Italy ; Antalya in Turkey ; Nice in France etc.
In June Estonian Air added to its fleet a sixth Boeing 737 and launched a new direct flight between Tallinn and Vienna. Starting from September Estonian Air will expand its network by launching 4 more routes : Tallinn-Vilnius, Tallinn-Helsinki, Tallinn-Kuressaare and Kuressaare-Stockholm. The new routes will be served by two 33-seater SAAB 340 aircraft.
