TALLINN - The coalition of Reform Party, Pro Patria and Res Publica Union (IRL) and Social Democrats that is forming the next Estonian government has pledged to open an Estonian school in Helsinki, the daily Postimees reported.
The outgoing minister of population, Paul-Eerik Rummo, said that an Estonian school in Helsinki was necessary and people there had already displayed spontaneous initiative.
However, Rummo wasn’t able to say how many pupils the school could expect to attract. There are thousands of Estonians living in Finland on a long-term basis.
Rummo also outlined that no more Estonian schools are going to be opened elsewhere.
