* Turkish Foreign Ministry announced on Thursday that Turkey will take over a NATO rotating mission to patrol the Baltic air space from April 1 to July 31, 2006.
According to a statement from the ministry, Turkish aircraft will patrol the air space of Baltic states between April 1 to July 31 within the scope of a council resolution of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.
Four aircraft and military personnel will be deployed at Lithuania's Siauliai Airport, said the statement, adding that this mission will further improve Turkey's relations with Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, the three Baltic countries.
Under a council resolution, NATO member states took it in turns to patrol the Baltic skies since March 2004, when the three countries joined the NATO.
Turkey joined the NATO in 1952.
