* Anatoli Chubais, CEO of Russia's electricity monopoly, UES Russia, has rejected an Estonia proposal allowing Eesti Energia to rent part of the hydroelectric power station situated on the Narva River on the Estonian-Russian border.
* Prosecutors in the north circuit office have sent an indictment against transit businessman Oleg Ossinovsky and the Spacecom company to court.
Ossinovsky, chairman of Spacecom, is suspected of violating competition laws and regulations.
* The ongoing row between Estonia's two main rail cargo companies erupted again last week, with both sides accusing each other of violating previous agreements. Eesti Raudtee (Estonian Railway), the largest of the two, stated on Oct. 5 that Spacecom had failed to make its payments, while the latter fired back by claiming Estonian Railway's demands were in violation of the two sides' agreement.
* The investigation into the death of a 16-year-old girl by gunshot, presumably an assassination attempt on a senior public servant, escalated to an international level on Oct. 11 when police invited foreign experts to help examine security-camera footage of the assailant.
