TALLINN – Members of the Finno-Ugric Forum in the European Parliament have adopted an action plan for improving the situation of the Finno-Ugric people living in Russia. The action plan also calls for active cooperation in the field of cultural and youth exchanges and on grassroots level.
The plan was adopted on April 26, on the day of the Mari Hero, spokespeople for the Information Center of Finno-Ugric People said.
Through the action plan the signatories intend to fulfill the main goal set out at the 4th World Congress of Finno-Ugric People that was held in Tallinn last August – to improve, in accordance with international norms, the linguistic and cultural situation of kindred people living in Russia.
