Kreisiraadio entertain with first rehearsal

Estonian group Kreisiraadio entertained the audience with their first rehearsal of Leto Svet, the song they are competing with in the First Semi-Final of the Eurovision Song Contest. Following a successful rehearsal the team gave their first press conference.

Kreisiraadio (Crazy Radio) are a three man team who have been established for 15 years. The team comprises of Hannes Võrno a fashion designer originally, Peeter Oja who has his background in porfessional acting and Tarmo Leinatamm who is a famous conductor in Estonia. They started their careers on late night radio, this proved very successful and led to television work. After this they worked together with the national symphonic orchestra and now find themselves at the Eurovision Song Contest. When asked what they had planned next, Peeter replied "Maybe next we will try for the Olympic Games !"

There were only minor changes to the stage performance of the song, most aspects are the same as the winning performance in the Estonian national selection. One lead singer Tarmo was absent today due to other commitments but will join the team later to complete the line up. For today press officer Toomas Luhats stood in as the third member of Kreisiraadio !

Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir

The Estonian Chamber Choir under the Direction of their English conductor Paul Hillier perform with the pulse of a single living, breathing organism.

In a packed Salisbury Cathedral, the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir captivated a rapt audience as dusk fell and the cathedral shrank to a candlelit nave.

The Choir performed a programme of music by composers from countries that cluster round the Baltic Sea.

Paul Hillier has inherited and refined an ensemble that sings with a focused and blended sound, without vibrato, but maintaining warmth and resonance in the tone.

Sven David Sandstrom’s Hear My Prayer, O Lord begins with Purcell’s well- known anthem, but then transforms into an extended meditative lament. The point of departure is marked by a sighing exhalation and rises to an ecstatic climax, the sound ultimately dissipating in a murmured swarming conclusion.

The programme began with Three Psalms by the Estonian Cyrillus Kreek. The control of the choir in a series of technically difficult works was impressive. The quality and timbre of the voices was consistent, regardless of pitch. The fat, rich bass sound earthed the choir with an unforced tone replicated throughout the ensemble.

Hannah - You and I

26 year old Hannah, the most successful female entertainer in Estonia, is a gifted songwriter, singer and musician.

Hailing from Tallinn, Estonia's capital situated on the Baltic coast, Hannah released her first single when she was just 17 and has since released five albums in Estonia. All self-penned, all yielding chart hits, all drawing critical acclaim and awards - in fact her second album 'Ballads' is Estonia's best-selling album, by a female artist, of all time.

Hannah's musical journey started at a tender age. She has been singing since she was a child, joining the Children's Music Studio aged 3 before 'graduating' to the Estonian Radio Singing Studio as a 5 year old. 2 years later the gifted little girl started at the Tallinn Music School before joining the elite Estonian TV Musical Choir. Aged 13 she composed her first song, which won first place in the Estonian Children's Song Competition. Suitably encouraged Hannah continued to compose and perform and, at 16, left the Estonian Choir to pursue her solo recording career.

ETV starts with preview shows

ETV, the Estonian broadcaster kicks off this years Eurovision Song Contest previews.

ETV starts to introduce this years Eurovision Song Contest participants on Saturday April 12.

The first show  'Euroopa laulud 2008' (European Songs 2008) will be aired on April 11 at 19:00 CET (20:00 local time.) ETV will air a total five shows on upcoming Saturdays.

In the first four shows we will see semifinalists and fifth show is planned to introduce finalists.

The host of the preview shows is Marko Reikop.

Estonia participates in the Eurovision Song Contest first semi final in slot 3 on May 20th.

LOITS and MUST MISSA nominated for 'Metal/Punk' Estonian Music Award

LOITS' "Must Album" and MUST MISSA's "Martyr of Wrath" have been nominated in the "Metal/Punk Artist" category at this year's Estonian Music Awards (the Estonian Grammy equivalent), which will be held on April 1 at the Pärnu Concert House. LOITS will also perform at the event, which will be televised live on TV3 beginning at 8:30 p.m.

Reserve now : Lou Reed -July 11th 2008 - not to be missed

Lou Reed returns to Europe this June to perform the entirety of his 1973 landmark album. The European dates will see Reed performing with a 30-piece ensemble including his band, a string and horn section and a children's choir.

The European tour starts June 23rd in Cork, followed by dates in Northern Ireland, Scotland, England, France, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Denmark, Sweden, Poland, Belgium and Spain. Due to popular demand for this prestigious show, Berlin will make a special return visit to Brussels and Paris.

Reed will perform three dates in the UK, including the prestigious London Royal Albert Hall on June 30th. He will also perform 'Berlin' at the Edinburgh Playhouse on June 25th, followed by the Nottingham Opera House on June 26th.
