Estonians constitute the largest number of foreign drug traffickers in Finland, according to the Finnish public broadcaster, YLE.
In 2011, suspects in drug-related crimes included 712 Finns, 76 Estonians and 31 Russians, according to statistics from the Finnish police. Around 25 percent of suspects in cases involving serious drug crimes in Finland are foreign nationals.
Even more - around half - of all criminal activity discovered at Finnish customs checkpoints is carried out by foreign nationals, according to Esko Hirvonen of the Finnish border patrol.
Estonia serves as a major route of trade for illegal drugs making their way to Finland, authorities said.
