Estonia's average monthly gross wages increased from last year in the first quarter, data released by Statistics Estonia showed Wednesday.
The average monthly gross wages and salaries increased 4.5 percent year-on-year to EUR 792 in the first quarter. The latest growth was driven mainly by irregular bonuses and premiums. Wages increased for the fourth consecutive quarter.
Excluding irregular bonuses and premiums, the average monthly gross wages and salaries advanced 3.2 percent annually in the first quarter.
At the same time, the average hourly gross wages and salaries grew 2.3 percent from last year to EUR 4.87 during the quarter.
The agency said that the average monthly labor costs per employee rose 4.3 percent year-on-year in the first quarter, while the average hourly labor costs moved up by 1.8 percent.
