Väinamere Liinid, that operates ferry traffic between Estonia’s mainland and larger islands, said that in 2009, it transported 1,831,204 passengers and 714,682 vehicles.
On the mainland-Saaremaa route, 1,318,894 people and 521,810 passengers travelled. The number of passengers fell 8.2% and that of vehicles 6.3%, informs LETA.
On the mainland-Hiiumaa route the company serviced 472,255 passengers and 176,932 vehicles, falls of 4.7% and 1.9% respectively.
On the Saaremaa-Hiiumaa route, 40,055 passengers and 15,940 vehicles travelled; the number of passengers fell 5% and number of vehicles by 3.9%.
