Estonian computers are being infected by a virus purporting to offer job opportunities, exploiting the country’s rising unemployment rate, Bloomberg reports.
A computer worm called Zeus, which copies Internet banking passwords and other personal information, started spreading yesterday, the Estonian Informatics Center, said in an e-mailed statement today.
The message says: “Don’t lose hope. We will find you a new job for free,” and is followed by a list of some of Estonia’s biggest employers, the center said.
Registered unemployment rose to a record 11.7 percent this week, according to the data released today on the Tallinn-based Labor Market Board’s Web Site.
