Air cargo traffic is plummeting in most markets, but Estonia's Tallinn Airport reports a twofold increase in tonnage handled for January through October this year.
The airport handled 36,500 tonnes of goods in the first 10 months of 2008, compared to 16,500 tonnes for the same period in 2007. The largest single-month increase came in October, which grew by 30.3% compared to the previous year.
AirBridgeCargo, TNT Airways, Jade Cargo and Kuzu Airlines Cargo are among the nine carriers servicing the airport.
Tallinn Airport recently wrapped up cargo terminal renovation projects that have increased aircraft parking positions and cargo storage facilities and extended the taxiway.
