Tallinn’s traffic congests fast

Rentnik noted that the average speed during rush hour decreases 2 km/h in a year. For example, if now it takes 30 minutes to drive from home to work then in four years it will take an hour, postimees.ee writes.
“In Tallinn, period with the so-called intense traffic lasts about two hours. Pretty soon we will reach the situation where the rush hour in the morning lasts three hours,” he noted.
Rentnik added that the smoother roads and new crossroads would not solve the problem, as they will be congested by the cars in four-five years.
However, Rentnik said that one of the solutions to that problem could be to attract people to use the public transport more.
