Stenbock House – The Research and Development Council, which advises the government, discussed the plan for infrastructure investments in research and development institutions and the training and work environment of higher education institutions. The investments in the amount of more than 2.3 billion EEK will be made by the year 2013, according to the projects submitted by universities.
The Research and Development Council decided that in order to use the state instruments, research institutions need to cooperate and that the state should not fund similar projects.
Projects complying with requirements include, for example, construction of the Tallinn University of Technology scientific library, renovation of the Tallinn University of Technology research centre, construction of the research centre for environmental and material analysis at the Tallinn University of Technology, and the development of the Physicum at the University of Tartu.
The government will discuss the investment plan at next week’s session.
