* TALLINN - Estonia recorded a budget surplus of 1.6 pct of GDP in 2005, the BNS news service reported, citing preliminary figures from the national statistics office.
The surplus is the fourth highest among EU member countries.
In 2005 the consolidated revenue of the government sector was 2.6 bln kroons (166 mln eur) higher than its expenses. The central government's budget surplus was 1.4 pct of GDP and of social insurance funds 0.4 pct of GDP. In the same period there was a 0.3 pct deficit in the local government sector.
