* Estonia will take Russian TV broadcasts off air from January 1, 2006, as two distributing cable networks refused to prolong agreements with Russian TV channels.
“Despite long talks the Starman and STV cable networks expressed no intention to sign agreements with representatives of Russian TV channels. As a result, 25 TV channels may disappear from the networks from January 1, 2006, including the First Baltic Channel, RTR Planet, NTV MIR, Ren-TV, TV Center, and others,” the channels said in a statement.
Most Russian-speakers in Tallinn are subscribed to Starman and STV.
