TALLINN – In the Estonian capital of Tallinn, Jews marked the holiday of Simchat Torah in the city's Synagogue with great enthusiasm.
Apart from members of the local community, this event was also attended by Isreali Cultural Center Director Regina Pats and numerous other Israeli guests, Social Center Director Marina Astanovskaya, 'Dor-Va-Dor' Director Inna Lapidus, and the Director of the Jewish Day School of Tallinn, Mikhail Beylinson. Participants received flags featuring the text of the prayers traditionally read on Simchat Torah.
Rabbi Shmuel Kot, the Chief Rabbi of Estonia and a Chabad Lubavitch emissary, led the services and festivities. Chanon Barabaner, the Vice-Chairman of the Jewish community of Tallinn was the first to speak. Avi Dobrysh, the Chairman of the Committee for Constructing a New Synagogue, gave an encouraging talk, followed by well-known politician Iosif Eidelkind and the Day School Director, Mikhail Beylinson.
