The Old ones ....
Originally quadrangular log buildings were born from the need to protect firebricks that were used as heat accumulators. So the structures originally built to protect the firebricks of living rooms, saunas and threshing barns developed into solid buildings protecting their inhabitants from rain and wind and also preserving the heat of firebricks. In addition to the aforementioned, granaries also belong to the earliest log buildings.
In Estonia there are log homes that are several hundred years old.
A well-constructed log home has remarkable durability. It is likely that your great, great, great, great etc. grand children will inherit.
There are many log homes still standing after more than 1000 years. Many people in Estonia still use old log homes as living houses or summer cottages.
